Sir Kennedy Alphonse Simmonds (born 12 April 1936) is a prominent Saint Kitts and Nevis politician.

A founding member of the People's Action Movement (PAM) party, Simmonds served as Premier from 21 February 1980 and became Prime Minister on 19 September 1983, when the twin island state gained independence from the United Kingdom. He held that post until 7 July 1995.

 

Dr Denzil Llewellyn Douglas (born January 14, 1953) is the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis. He became leader of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party in 1989 and won the general election in 1995. He has been prime minister since July 7, 1995, and was also foreign minister from then until 2000. He is a graduate of the University of the West Indies. He has a daughter who is a doctor and a namesake son who is a member of the class of 2011 of Harvard College. His party won
